Developing Drivers
With an ageing industry, we’re always looking to nurture and support the development of young people looking for a career in the Transport sector at Swanson Transport and our Lupton Carrier’s operation.
We often take on young people who are keen to get into the industry - but are unable to due to their lack of experience and qualifications. We provide the opportunity to start in our Lupton Carrier’s warehouse and then move to our small truck and vans that are able to be driven on a regular car license.
This sets the foundation for those looking gain their Class 2 licence, by giving them exposure to regular driving and of course - dealing with Auckland’s relentless traffic.
In recent years we’ve had five young people start their transport industry journey with us - all of whom are still working with Swanson Transport and are rapidly advancing in their careers as drivers.
Of the five, three now operate Hiabs and one recently gained their class 5 licence.
