Stop, Look and Listen

Our focus on road safety in the community

Make sure your children know how to act responsibly around the road and cross safely.

In our West Auckland community there are a significant number of cars, trucks and heavy vehicles on the roads.

It’s everyone’s responsibility to keep the roads and members of the public safe. Swanson Transport and Lupton Carriers drivers are always on the lookout for pedestrians – particularly children who aren’t always aware of road hazards.

We have supported the Road Safe message being communicated at Swanson and Ranui Primary Schools which promotes the following:

  1. Cars, buses and trucks don’t always see you.

Drivers should always be alert and aware of their surroundings, however pedestrians are not always seen. This is why it's important to stop, look and listen before crossing the road.

  2. Always use crossings.

Pedestrian crossings are designed to make crossing the road safer for everyone involved. Drivers will always slow down and stop, and people are visible and easily seen. It's the safest place, and the only place that children especially, should be using to cross the road.

  3. Your movements affect others.

Children need to know that what they do around the road affects other people. Whether they’re crossing the road or walking by it, they have the potential to put others at risk if they’re not crossing safely.

Children, pedestrians, and drivers alike all play an important part in keeping the roads hazard free. At Swanson Transport and Lupton Carriers, we support Road Safety Awareness Education to reduce accidents on our roads and provide a safer community
